The rift within the Chandigarh unit of City Congress party is not a new thing. Now after the defeat of Congress veteran leader Pawan Kumar Bansal, the tussle within the party leaders has even worsened. The party leaders are now demanding City Congress President Pawan Kumar Bansal’s removal from the post.

The first person to oppose Chhabra is Congress councillor Devinder Singh Babla. Babla said that Congress lost the Municipal Corporation elections as well as two consecutive Lok Sabha elections under Chhabra’s tenure.

It shall be noted that Chhabra was appointed as the president in January 2015 after the removal of BB Behl who was remained party president for 14 years.

Meanwhile, Chhabra is being supported by Pawan Kumar Bansal and he said that until and unless party high command doesn’t want, he will not step down and will continue to fight against the wrong policies of the BJP.
